I loved the tv show "Designing Women". Julia was one of my favorite characters...next to Bernice, that is. Of her many tirades this is one of my favorites. I so identify with her and the fact that if things worked the way she saw them...well, the world would be just a better place!!! Right??
My goal with this blog is to keep a journal type account of my walk with Christ, my children and my grandchildren. To share what wisdom I have been given and have learned. To share the occasional recipe, photograph, funny story and possibly a teary one. God's mercies are new every morning. We each get a fresh, clean slate each day. So grab a cup of coffee and enjoy!

Already One????
On Saturday Savannah turned one year old. How can that be??? This has been the fastest year ever. She had a great party with a beautiful day. Savannah you are the sweetest most cuddly baby ever. You weigh almost 24 lbs and are a little over 30 inches tall. You are a very big girl and you LOVE to eat! You have just 3 teeth with several almost pushing through. You crawl lightning fast and will stand up on your own and cruise around and push anything to walk but have not taken that first brave step yet. You light up when you see your Aunt Megan....I think she is your favorite! I love you and pray daily for you. I pray that God keeps you safe and draws you to Him at an early age and that you keep to His ways. You are my most favorite one year old sweet baby....
Here are some shots from the day....
Getting ready for my party, Mimi

Moving Blindly
One of the biggest challenges I have in my life is trust. I am a take charge kinda gal and I am very observant. Of situations, places and people. I watch body language, speech patterns, all kinds of movement all the time. Mostly when you do this you see some pretty funny sights....that is another post. This one is dealing with trust. Trusting the hand of God. I am dealing with some pretty "big stuff" right now in my life. In the world scheme of things not so big. Especially in light of the devastating tornadoes that happened this week. I am struggling in my own world though and that is still very real and present in my life. In the sweetness of God he brought a precious word to me this morning though.
Ezekiel 34: 20- 24
"Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says to them: See, I myself will judge between the fat sheep and the lean sheep. Because you shove with flank and shoulder, butting all the weak sheep with your horns until you have driven them away, I will save my flock, and they will no longer be plundered. I will judge between one sheep and another. I will place over them one shepherd, my servant David, and he will tend them; he will tend them and be their shepherd. I the Lord will be their God, and my servant David will be prince among them. I the Lord have spoken."
I may be moving around in this season blindly. Not sure of how anything is going to work out. But I do know that the Lord will take care of His sheep. So I will move along blindly but clinging to the fact that God does see and He is never blinded.

When I feel like giving up...
I read an interesting thing this morning. "Change isn't giving up; doing nothing is giving up."
I have to admit I get discouraged sometimes and feel like giving up. But as I was reading these verses I realize giving up for the Christian is just not an option. God is with me and has went before me. So if you are weary and tired and just worn to a frazzle....think on these things....
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Phil 4:13
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do
not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9
Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the LORD
your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you. Deut. 31:6
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Eph. 6:10
The LORD is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped;
my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him. Psalm 28:7
I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD; I will make mention of Your righteousness, of
Yours only. Psalm 71:16
But they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up
with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not
faint. Isaiah 40:31
Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run
in such a way that you may obtain it. I Cor. 9:24
Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay
aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance
the race that is set before us, Heb. 12:1
Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the LORD of hosts. Zech. 4:6
For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. II Tim.
1:7
It is God who arms me with strength, And makes my way perfect. Psalm 18:32

being a mom
Today is Mother's Day. It is one of my favorite holidays of the year. Always has been even before I was a mother. I always loved doing things for my own mother and grandmother when I was younger to show them how much I loved and appreciated them both. I still have my own mother and I cherish the times I have with her since many of my friends have lost their moms in the last little while. (Tracy...praying for you today..I am sure it was just tough today.) This year we are all so busy with work, school, weddings, remodeling a house and about a bazillion other things it was kind of a hectic day but lots of fun too. To me, being a mom is the best and greatest thing that I get to do. I love my daughters so much and I am so pleased with them as adults. So proud of both my girls and their choices in jobs, spouses and most importantly their walks with the Lord. Both my girls are in church and love Jesus and serve Him. I could not ask for more or for better. Motherhood is hard, don't get me wrong. Really hard. And it never ends. Never. I will be their mother until the day I die. I pray daily for my girls, I worry daily, I think about them all the time. I am very involved in their lives. Sure, they are adults and live their own lives but as their mother I am "in their business" as often as I can be!! One of my deepest desires in life is to leave behind a legacy to my daughters and my grandchildren as a mother (and grandmother) that could be counted on, depended on all the time. To know that they were all loved all the time no matter what. That they mattered. Really mattered to me. In society children seem to be accessories. I desire my children and their children to know that they can always come to me with their needs, their dreams, their stories. To remember that when they needed to be prayed for that they could always ask me and know that I took their need straight to the throne of God. I have (and will continue) to pray very hard for my children. For protection, for God's favor on their lives, provision and for them to stay in the will of God. Being a mom is the hardest most rewarding job I have ever had. It is the one thing I always wanted to be and it has not been for one second of my life something I did not want. I love being a mother...and a grandmother even more.
Here is a look at our "Mother's Day 2013"
Right after church. Savannah's camera face and Piper's finger in her nose. Just keepin' it real, people!
Savannah thinking she might like to slide. Is she not just the cutest thing!!??
Big sister Piper showing Savannah how to slide. When did she turn 12 years old???
My sweet Erica and her two beautiful little girls. What a great mommy she is to these little sweeties.
My silly sister, Becky, and Savannah making silly faces.
Funny Piper and Megan. Both were talking a mile a minute.
Soon-to-be Uncle Thad horsing around with his nieces. They both are really crazy about him but it does take them a few minutes each time to warm up to him.
Me, my mom Carol, my sister Becky, my niece Brittany, Savannah, Megan, Erica and Piper. We were missing my other niece Mariah today.
Piper giving her mommy a pink flower. So sweet!
Brittany you look really good with a baby! Maybe next Mothers Day you could be a mommy??!!

It is just born in them!
My precious grandbabies came over yesterday. Since such sad news of the death of a friends newborn was just raw and emotional for us I just had to squeeze and love on them extra hard. Savannah is just the best cuddler in the world too. Even Miss SassyPants asked me to sit with her and snuggled up to me extra close. Oh, how I love me some babies! We went outside and I let Savannah crawl around in the grass. She found a dandelion and tried to pick it. Funny how little girls just know that flowers should be picked.
Try number one. No flower, just a blade of grass.
Try number two....a petal and some leaf bits. No real flower....yet
Let's try at a different angle. Savannah was very determined to get a hold of this pretty flower.
Oh boy!! I think I got a hold of it Mimi!! Just a little tug....
Yay!! I got it, I got it!1 Now what?? Well, guess what...yes, she stuck it in her mouth!
When we went back in the house I let Piper try on her dress that she will wear in Megan's wedding later this summer. Savannah and Piper are flower girls and they are going to be the sweetest things ever in these matching tutu dresses....take a look
Piper absolutely loved her dress. She didn't want to take it off. Most little girls love dress-up too. And the fancier the better....at least in Piper's world.
A look at the back.....ignore the pink hairbow and the pitiful tied bow I did.
After a look in the mirror Piper declared she needed some "jooolreee, Mimi"
I just love these little girls to pieces. Each day I just thank God for them....especially today
