Hot Stuff

For the past 2 days it has been over 100 degrees here.  Very hot to say the least.  I am alone in this I am sure....i love it..ssshhhhh!   I really do.  Now, if I did not have a pool to float in that might be a different story but since I do it sure makes the day so much nicer.  I have had the pleasure of having several friends over lately.  That sure makes the days better too!  Tomorrow my daughter Erica is having her house shown so they will be here to swim.  Yay!  Piper lives to swim.  Savannah?  Not so much but she will.  On Monday my sweet friends Kelley and Angie are coming to lay out and swim.  My friend Tracy is coming Thursday for me to cook her a birthday dinner.  Even though it is a week late!  And today my longtime friend Debbie came and spent the day with me even though I had to leave her for a spell to attend a sweet wedding of a young lady at church.  I am so grateful for such good friends!!  I love to have people over and I love to talk so this is such a real blessing to me.  Also, my sister has moved back to the area and I get to see her everyday and that is also a good thing!  I love my family too!!  On Thursday night this past week my former sister-in-law, Tori, and her four kids came over and spent several hours with us and it was just wonderful.  I haven't seen them all together in a while and we had the best time.  They live in Atlanta and we just don't get together often enough.  Since I have been divorced this is one of those things that can get a little difficult.  what do you do when you really care about some of your former family??  I love my nieces and nephew and I told them so and that no matter what I was still their "Aunt".  I also really have missed Tori very much.  when they lived here and everything was "normal" we were very close.  I hate that we grew apart but we both vow to stay close even though we are physically far apart.  My former brother-in-law is one of the funniest men I know and when I last saw him this past Christmas he kept me in stitches.  He is truly hilarious. That is a sad fact of divorce but I really want to stay in the know of my former in laws families.  I am so glad that they want to stay in my own girls lives too.  And my little grandgirls!!  Back to the weather...tomorrow promises to be about 102 so I am getting ready for more time by the pool after church and lunch!!  Woo-hoo  Hot Stuff!

Five Gone

I had just about quit exercising and I have about ten thousand excuses as to why.  But the truth is....I got lazy.  So, this summer one of the things I am doing is starting an exercise regimen again.  I am walking everyday.  I am down five pounds since school let out so that is encouraging.  I am trying to build up where I can walk really fast each day.  I don't like to say run because I would only do that if there was a grizzly bear behind me.  I choose to walk on the two rural roads that run along my house.  So if you drive by and see me I look like the one at the bottom of the photo except blonde.  My goal is to look like the one at the top of the photo except blonde and with short hair.  Wish me luck!

One Month Already???

I cannot believe that Savannah is already one month old.  It blows my mind!!  Where is the time going???  I went over to Erica's house today to take Savannah's photo with Mr. Frog to chart her growth like I did when Piper was a little baby.  So on the 25th of each month I will sit her beside Mr. Frog and take her picture.  Piper slept through her first photo session but Miss Savannah was wide awake today for her photo shoot!  Of course, Piper had to get in a couple of shots!

Okay Mimi, we are ready for our pictures!  I will tell Savannah what to do....don't worry!

Okay Savannah, Mimi is going to put Mr. Frog beside you so she can show everyone how big you are getting.  Don't cry...he's not scary.

Okay, Piper.  I'm ready...bring him on!

This is him??  Mr. Frog!  You are so soft and sweet.  I was scared for nothing!!

I think I will rest my head on your shoulder.  I am not so great at holding it up just yet but I sure am trying!!

Whew!  Being a baby supermodel is hard work.  Mimi is a photo slave-driver isn't she??

Maybe I can rest a second.  I think she might be done so I will just be looking around.

What are these things??  They look good enough to chew on.  If I could only figure out how to get them into my mouth!!

Babies just grow up too doggone fast!  I just love these two little girls so much!

Summer so far

So far this summer has been wonderful.  We have had family get-togethers with lots of food and fun.  Weddings galore.  I have three to go to this month!!  And just lazy days by the pool.  Piper has become quite the water dog and I will be posting pictures of her swimming in the "big pool" very soon.  She is such a hoot!  She is one funny baby.  Savannah is growing way too fast already.  She is such a good baby too.  Great sleeper and eater.  Never fussy.  Such a little beauty.  Erica is soaking up each day home with her new baby and her sweet toddler.  Blake returned to work this week after taking three weeks off to help Erica out.  He really is the best husband and daddy I could ever ask for to Erica.  Megan and Thad are just the cutest couple ever.  They were both in a wedding this past weekend and were just such a handsome couple themselves.  I can't wait to plan their wedding!!!!  Soon I hope!!!  They aren't engaged but they do talk about it and plan a future all the time.  I was looking at them this past Sunday in church and they are just so well suited for each other.  Here are a few photos from the past week.  Hope your summer is starting off great!

Grammy and Piper.  These two are crazy about each other!  My girls were so fortunate to have a wonderful grandmother in my mom and now my own grandchildren have a wonderful great-grandmother in her.

Aunt Brittany and little Savannah.  One day she and her husband Aaron will be super parents.

Thad and Megan at the wedding this weekend.  Aren't they a darling couple if I say so myself?

This is what Savannah did at the wedding.  The whole time she slept.  Such a sweetie.

Piper danced herself silly.  Like her blue nails?  She loves her toes and nails done.  She said to her mommy and daddy, "I party all night."

Piper dancing with the beautiful bride, Anna and her mom, Cathy.  This sweet bride is a life long best friend of Megan.  They were raised together and I love her like my own.  Her mom is one of my dearest friends too.  It really was a beautiful wedding.  I am praying for this young couple and many others to stay true to each other and to God because this world is hard on marriages.

Blake and Erica.  I pray daily for them too that they trust God to supply all their needs and they keep Him center to their lives.  I think they are a good-looking pair too!!

The Well

Last night was our first week of Bible study after we read our first chapter of our new book "The Well" by Mark Hall.  We are trying out a book discussion format and I think the first night went pretty good.  I hope many more will join in the discussion as the weeks go by and we discover the many different "holes" in our lives.  In each chapter there are some really profound statements that are made.  The great thing about this study is these statements  are individualized.  What really strikes me may not strike another reader.  Is that not just how our Savior works??  He loves us all but still He individualizes each one of us.  The book tells us that He pursues us.  Pursues me.  Just me.  How precious is that???  There are a few questions that go with each chapter.  For this week we studied John 4: 1- 45...The Samaritan Woman.  This is a woman who is alone.  She approaches the town well at noon.  Long after all the other women gather water for the day.  In a big gaggle all giggly, whispering, eyeing each other.  The first gossip hole.  But this woman goes it alone.  She has no friends.  There isn't anyone helping her.  All this makes this burden even heavier and harder to carry back to her home.  Now before you get to hard on this woman, think.  How different is she from me?  I may not have had many husbands.  I don't live with a man that I am not married to but I do have other sins that I am cumbered with in my life.  I often go to the well alone.  This woman breaks my heart.  She hates her life.  We know this because of the way she grabs at the offer of living water from Jesus.  Grabs at it before she even knows it isn't literal water.  Anything so she wouldn't have to come back to this well.  How sweet Jesus tells her about His water.  One lady said last night that while we all need to come to the well it really does us no good unless we drink from the well.  Deep and thirstily.  To satisfy our deepest thirsts.  Another lady said that the Samaritan woman danced all around the topic but Jesus just cut right to the point.  How often do I dance with my sin when I know Jesus wants me to just cut to the point?  One thing I thought about later.  In our Christian walk to the Well it does matter that we drink it in but it also matters what we drink with.  Am I using a cup, a spoon, an old fashioned dipper, a bucket??  Sometimes it depends on my current circumstances.  But to really quench my deep desire for water I need to drink heavily and often.  When I am dry in my spiritual life, I need to drink.  When I am weary, I need to drink.  When we are physically thirsty dehydration is already setting in.  This is why doctors say we need to drink often and lots of water.  In my spirit I need to drink often and lots.  Nothing satisfies like Living Water.

Photo Shoot

When Piper was born Erica had met a wonderful new photographer named Becca.  she is the sweetest girl.  She took photos of Piper when she was just 12 days old.  Yesterday she came to Erica's house to take photos of Savannah and to get some "sister" shots too.  I, of course, nosed in with my camera and took a few.  Becca is so sweet she really doesn't care at all.  Here are a few that I took.  Hers will be so much better.  Her equipment is to die for!!

Erica getting her sleepy newborn ready.  Savannah is just the best baby.

Of course daddy had to redo Piper's hair.  We'll just call him "Mr. Blake" from now on!

I love this little soul so much.  She was so easy to move around.  She honestly slept through the whole shoot.

Piper has mastered the fake smile.  She is just the cutest thing.  Savannah is still sleeping no matter how squiggly Piper gets.

This is my favorite.  Both are just oblivious to all us adults!  Piper looks like she is bored to death and Savannah is just too comfy on her sister's lap.

I like this one too.  It is a little blurry so I am calling it a "soft" effect.  Are they not precious???

Okay, photo shoot done.  Someone get this baby off my lap....now, please!

I never thought I could love anything as much as I do these little girls.  I can't wait to have more grandchildren.  I can just imagine all kinds of fun things we can all do together.  You never get these young years back and I would not trade a second of the time I have with them for anything in this world!!

Summer Plans

There are 4 days of school left.  Four.  4.  That is the most magical of numbers right now. The kids are so tired of school.  Since testing is over they are doing nothing but math games and search a words and busy work.  I for one am so ready for a summer break.  I have no vacation plans this year due to the fact that I have a new grandbaby that I plan on helping my daughter with and I really don't have the extra money to travel this year.  I am saving my money for a bigger event hopefully in the near future.....can we say dum dum de dum???  No engagement announcement yet but I have a feeling it won't be long!!!

For other summer plans we are starting a new Bible study this Wednesday night that will take us through the whole summer.  We are going to do "The Well" by Mark Hall.  It is a fabulous and thought provoking study.  Made me see Jesus in a richer and deeper light.  He is the well.  The living water.  The quencher of our thirsty souls.  But how do you get to a well?  You dig sister, you dig.  I can't wait to dig into this study.

I have said before I am not a big tv watcher.  I mostly check out the cooking channel when I do watch tv.  I am completely addicted to American Idol when it comes on.  I can't help it.  I love that show.  I was thrilled with Phillip Phillips winning this year!!  But I did watch the History Channels mini series event, "The Hatfields & McCoys."  It was very good.  It was very violent and the language was very rough but I have to say by the end I was weeping so hard for those families.  The hate.  The revenge.  It was just so sad how most of them ended up.  I have to say I truly do not hate anyone.  Sure, there are people I don't particularly like but I try to just not cross paths with them.  Some days that can be kinda tough.  I figure if we don't interact we don't have any conflicts that can lead to harsher feelings.  That may be a dopey way to deal with things but I just don't care for a lot of strife in my life.  I have enough stress with just plain ole living!!!

I do plan on painting a couple of rooms this summer.  We will see if that pans out!  Ha! Ha!  I will probably end up lounging out at my pool most days!  At least I will save some money on gas that way!  I usually have all my housework done by 9 a.m. so pool bound I will be.  Hopefully I will have Piper swimming pretty good by summer's end.  Let's get this summer started.  Woo-Hoo!
